The Bath couple behind BabyMade — and parents to Freddie, our most demanding product tester.
BabyMade started at 2am with 47 browser tabs open and a growing sense of despair. We were expecting Freddie, we wanted to buy something genuinely lovely and safe, and we couldn't find a single source we actually trusted.
Sophie — who spent years working as a midwife before Freddie arrived — knew exactly what to look for from a safety perspective. Tom, who works in marketing, knew how to build something people would actually want to read. Between us, we had the skills. What we didn't have was the website. So we built it.
BabyMade is the resource we wished had existed. Everything on it is written by us, based on real research, real reviews, and — increasingly — real experience with a real (very opinionated) baby.
Sophie trained and worked as a midwife for six years across the NHS in Somerset and Bristol. She's supported hundreds of new parents through the early weeks and knows the questions they actually ask — about safe sleep, about feeding, about what products are genuinely useful and which are just marketing.
When Sophie writes about safe sleep or product safety on BabyMade, that's not copy-pasted from a press release. It's grounded in real clinical experience and cross-referenced with NHS and Lullaby Trust guidance.
BabyMade is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Programme. When you click a product link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This is what keeps the site running and the guides free.
Our commission never influences what we recommend. We only feature products we'd genuinely point a friend towards.
Questions, collaboration ideas, or just want to say hello — we'd love to hear from you.
